The Aval GANSO is a tool for evaluation and continuous improvement that assesses the sustainability performance of livestock operations, based on pillars and practices tailored to the Colombian context.
It currently includes five pillars for both the beef and dairy standards, encompassing a total of 52 essential practices for sustainable cattle, buffalo, and dairy production.
The pillars and practices of the Aval GANSO are informed by international sustainability frameworks such as the Global Roundtable for Sustainable Beef (GRSB), the Dairy Sustainability Framework (DSF), the Sustainable Agriculture Network (SAN), Global GAP, the IFC Performance Standards (IFC-PS), Colombia’s Good Livestock Practices (BPG – ICA), and other national regulations.
Why Was the Aval GANSO Created?
The Aval GANSO was developed in response to the livestock sector’s need to demonstrate its commitment to the environment and society.
It aims to help consumers make informed choices about the products they buy, while supporting farms that prioritize animal welfare, employee well-being, environmental protection, and product quality and safety.
Who Can Obtain the Aval GANSO?
The Aval GANSO is designed for livestock operations of all sizes, whether they are engaged in full-cycle (breeding–raising–fattening) or partial-cycle production, across the beef, buffalo, and dairy value chains.
